Two quotes, who said them and about what? ... from an economics quiz
in an investment newsletter

They never met a payroll: Copernicus, Galileo, Newton, Einstein

The study of the x function has undoubtedly yielded some of the
highest correlations as well as some of the most embarrassing
forecasts in the history of economics

dermvis-ga,

I'll take a look for these, but a warning first:

A two-fer is a lot tougher then just searching for a single quote.
There's a good chance a researcher will find one, but not the other,
and be unable to post an answer as a result. A lot of researchers
won't even bother trying.

If you have additional quotes to research, you might want to consider
posting each one as a separate question.
