Hello experts!

I would like to install a PHP based forum on my website. I need one,
which is mostly used across internet, because then it will be good
tested and if I have a problem with the produkt, it will be easier to
find info on the net.

Please let me know, which one should I use. I would appreciate it, if
you would give me more than one reference and point out your
recomendation.

Thank you.

Hello,
If you can give some more info on your website (like if you have
MySQL, and what version of PHP) we could suggest a couple different
options for you to choose from that would be more tailored to your
needs.

Thanks
Andy

I'd suggest PHPbb. http://www.phpbb.com/

but that will require a SQL database for the user handling.

Hi mangaartist-ga,

thank you for the comment - at least something.
you want to put it as an answer?

I did a small research and phpBB seems to be the best choice really.

Greetings.

It largely depends on whether you would like to pay for the php-based
forum or prefer a free/opensource version?

For instance, I've always been a huge fan of Invision Power Board
(known as IPB) and that was a leading alternative to phpBB before it
became a paid-for service. Another paid-for famous board is VBulletin.

Another upcoming board is SMF - which is starting to look as though it
could become a huge player in the 'free forum' market. The only thing
I have found with this is the lack of organised documentation even on
the official site. However, this is one of the more boards with great
integration with various CMSs (content management system)such as
Joomla so is definitely worth considering as well.

Kind Regards
Mosey
