What were the main ahops in Paris around 1922-1925? Clothing mainly -
general fashion, shoes, etc.? I need the names of the best shops and
the second or third best ones as well, if possible.Where were they?
Did department stores exist?

There is no source that defines the 1st, 2nd and 3rd "best" shops in
1920's Paris. That would only be a matter of intepretation and
opinion. You might want to rephrase your question because I suspect it
would be difficult (if not impossible) to find a list of names of very
many shops in that time period much less an official rating of them.

my description may have been misleading. I simply wanted to know which
shops existed in Paris at that time - not to rate them, but the sort
of shops where someone wihtout much money could loiter and look at the
latest fashions on display - as people do today in, say, Harvey
Nichols. I suppose there were extremelly chic, expensivce shops (like
harvey Nicks) and then perhaps a more affordable place such as John
lewis - I dont know if there were department stores at that time - I
just wanted to know some names and locations of shops or boutiques
where the latest fashions might be displayed - as Paris was the centre
of fashion, I assume there might be displays somewhere. I hope that's
lcear! Think of a yougn girl without much money who can't affrod such
things but gets a vicarious thrill from looking at them.

Department stores in that period:

I don't know if Hermès of Paris could have been considered a
department store at that time, but here are a couple of links:

(Lots of Greek mythology searching for: hermes paris )

Hope this helps, regards, Myoarin

Goucho,
The early temples of consumerism I listed are certainly places your
young girl could have visited. Sounds like you are writing a novel.
