There is a movie that I watched when I was very young that really
impacted me. I only remember bits and pieces and I may be confusing it
with more than one movie. However, I distinctly remember a scene where
the father took his son out in the woods to supposedly go hunting. He
locked the child in the car and meant to, with his long range rifle,
shoot someone in the town (which I think was miles away). He was
either trying to shoot the mayor or possibly his wife. The boy was
protesting in the car. What is the name of this movie?

I'm thinking late 70's to early 90's. I believe the car (in said
scene) was a station wagon.

I really hope I'm not confusing this with another film of my
childhood, but I seem to remember a supernatural presence (maybe
ghosts) and if I were to guess the genre is would be horror. However,
the car scene that I distinctly remember had a kind of melodramatic
made for tv feel. All of this in retrospect though. At the time it was
terrifying!

thanks for the input. If you remember anything else, please let me
know. I'll piece this together. I'm a movie buff. I'll try to
figure this out.
