The old Jeddah Port that was decommissioned in 1951 served as Hijaz
gateway to the world till then. When the terminal was built?, who designed it?
and who built it?

Hello jiddawi-ga,

I've checked a fair bit of historical documents, and have not come
across anything to suggest that the port of Jeddah was "built" as a
single, large-scale project during the 1920's or thereabouts (nor at
any time earlier).

There are references to individual projects in the port area --
electrification, road building, laying rails, and the like -- but it
is not until the rebuilding of the port in the 1950s, largely by the
US firm Bechtel, and some British firms, that one can speak of the
port being designed and built.

Perhaps you have a different understanding of the history of this
area. Please provide whatever additional context you can for your
question, so I can try to craft an answer that meets your needs.

Thanks,

pafalafa-ga

Dear pafalfa-ga
The old Jeddah port "terminal" was known as "Albunt" it can be also
"Albont". This is the old customs terminal. This whole facility was
located on the sea-side of what is known as "Albalad". Remnants of
this terminal can be seen beside the new Post Office Building. This
whole area now is no longer on the sea-side as most of the area to the
west was back-filled and the shore-line has moved about 500 meters to
the West.
I hope this answers your question.
