Hi - i am trying to delete all of the URLs that pop up when i type a
web address in IE 6.0 (for example, if i type "www.a", then
"www.abc.com", "www.abcd.com", etc all show up as past websites i have
visited) and am having limited success. I first went to the 'Internet
options' window in IE and hit 'clear history' and 'delete files...'
and this got rid of most of them. However, there are a few that still
pop up. I tried going into the registry and going to
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER/software/microsoft/internet explorer/TypedURLs" to
delete them, but i do not see the offending web addresses listed
there. is there anything else i can do to get rid of these addresses?

any help would be greatly appreciated

Have you tried this:

In Internet Explorer, select "Tools" from the menu, then "Internet
Options" and then choose the "Content" tab. Next, look for the button
at the bottom that says "AutoComplete." Click on the button which will
make the AutoComplete Settings window appear. In it, click on the
"Clear Forms" button to delete all your stored form entries.

The options for Web Addresses, Forms and User names and passwords on
forms may appear with a check mark in front of them. If you remove the
checkmark from the desired option(s), the AutoComplete feature will no
longer work. The first one, Web Addresses, works with your Address bar
only.

Looking forward to your clarification.

Best regards,
Rainbow

Hi rainbow,

Yes, i have tried the "clear forms" button and it has not worked for
me. And my goal is not to disable the autocomplete of web addresses,
it is to get rid of some of the addresses that are stored in memory.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

I'm assuming that you are using an operating system of 2000 and above
(Windows). To delete those old sites that show up in your address bar
you should do this:

Click Start
>Settings
>Control Panel
>Network and Internet Connections

After that has been done, a dialog box should appear. At the bottom
right hand corner of the box should be a button labeled "Clear
History". Click on that and your problem shall be solved. Furthermore,
if you wish to delete cookies and temporary internet files, there are
corressponding buttons above the "Clear History" button.
