How much money does the Ministry of Transportation make in moving
violation type tickets every year? Ie -- what type of revenue is
generated by the government of Ontario with speeding/careless/etc
type tickets every year? (Please provide references)
As well, a rough estimate of how much other relevant industry's make
(ie, insurance/agents/lawyers). |

Hi king_1,
I am unfamiliar with the Canadian government's terms in regards to
public reports, so I don't want to start searching the government
sites. Tell me if this source qualifies as an answer for you:
Global Calgary

..."Police say they've only added 220 officers to Calgary's total
police force since 82, while Calgary's population has grown by more
than 300,000. The apparent consensus is police should remain on the
street fighting crime and not giving tickets out in large numbers.
Traffic ticket revenue is a big ticket item for the city.
Police expect to collect 33 million dollars in fines in 2005.
In 2006, they anticipate fines will bring in more than 34 million.
That's before the order by council to bring in an extra million.
We bring in a lot more than Edmonton police.
They expect just under 25 million in ticket revenue in 2006. ..."

That is the exact information I need, but you have the wrong province.
The province I need it for is Ontario -- not Alberta.

No worries.
To clarify -- no EXACT details are needed. Just an analysis of some
sort, or reference in article is sufficient.
