Hi again itisntmesweet-ga! Nice to be working with you once more.

I would need some help in grasping the essence of your question. In
terms of investments, I have data in dollar terms of the amount of
international investments made in the US by foreign companies. In turn
I also have data in table form of investments made by the US in other
companies.

I have this data for the years 1996 to 2004.

Is this the type of data you need?

Thanks!

I need the local and foreign, direct investment, and incentives.
1996-2004 would be great. If you have at least one of those I mention
it would be enough.

Would the "Value Added by Industry in Current Dollars" of the GDP in
the US satisfy the local direct investment that you need? I am a
little bit confused with the local direct investment part.

Plus what do you mean by "incentives"?

Thanks.

If you say yes to my new clarification, I have data for 1947 to 2004.

Would this data and the one first one I mentioned above be enough as an answer?

Thanks.

I'm not really sure but I think when someone invest, there is an
incentive for it.. sounds like that. Value Added by Industry in
Current Dollars would be enough.

Hi again! Just to make it clear...

I will be only able to provide the following:

a. Data in dollar terms of the amount of international investments
made in the US by foreign companies.

b. Value Added by Industry in Current Dollars of the GDP in the US..

I think incentives will be a bit more complicated since they will
depend on the particular era and furthermore it will be different for
every state.

Would A and B enough as an answer even without the "incentives" part?

Thanks!

Hi! Thanks again for accepting my proposal for formulating an answer
to this question.

The Bureau of Economic Analysis website of the US government provides
the things I mentioned in my clarification.

a. Data in dollar terms of the amount of international investments
made in the US by foreign companies. (The data is actually from 1976
to 2004!)

Note: It first includes the data for US investment abroad and then a
bit below the page, you can see the data for foreign investments in
the US. You will see it as ?Foreign-owned assets in the United States?
http://bea.gov/bea/di/intinv04_t2.xls (Excel file)

In case you would need the details and explanations to this table, you
can proceed to this link for the highlights and news release.

BEA: International Investment Position
http://bea.gov/bea/di/home/iip.htm

Plus if you want it broken down by country and year (only 1994 to
2004), you can get further detailed tables here.

Foreign Direct Investment in the U.S.: Balance of Payments and Direct
Investment Position
http://bea.gov/bea/di/di1fdibal.htm

-----------------------------
b. Value Added by Industry in Current Dollars of the GDP in the US.

Please take note that the initial link here (in step ?a?) will only
show data from 1999 to 2004. There is no direct link to the table
including the 1947 data. However you can still get the 1947 data
through the following steps.

a. Go to this link: http://bea.gov/bea/industry/gpotables/gpo_action.cfm?anon=35&table_id=12191&format_type=0

b. Just a little above the page choose ?First Year? as 1947 in the
drop-down list box.

c. Click Refresh Table. You will then get the data from 1947 to 2004.

In case you want more details for this table, you can go to the following page:
