How can we compare the fees that are charged for Classroom Training VS
elearning deliveries in the specific context of Customer training? My
focus of interest is the aviation industry. (Boeing, GE Aviation,
Rolls-Royce, Bombardier Aerospace, etc.)
I need examples of those fees (minimum 5- ideally 10 or more)
Typically, when classes are one day, two days, three days, fees are
$300 to $500 per day. how much is charged for elearning courses?
Examples can come from the Aviation industry and from other industries as well.
Sometime Customer training is free, sometime prices are medium or
relatively high... From these examples, I want to draw my own
conclusions.
Thank you. |

Hi,
Our local fire department just installed a large video and eLearning
system for communications and training purposes. The idea was that
having shifts leaving their areas for the day, and having to have
another shift to cover their area while the first is being trained,
was rather costly. Also there was the time it took to get new
information out into the field, as well as travel time and over time..
well.. you get the picture, it wasn't a hard sell.
Anyway, I wrote an article for the fire chief for the local paper back
in the summer time; I've left a message with him regarding this
question. I know they have several different types of training, from
several different vendors, so he should be able to give you an idea of
the price changes he would expect using the system verses per class
face-to-face costs.

Thank you for your clarification request.
Please read my clarification carefully.
My question is not about general benefits of eLearning or the fact
that it is a sound business decision. My question is more specific
than that.
I need to know about the fees (the amount charged by a corporation)
for customer training delivered by eLearning means. Customer training
is specific: it addresses the training offered to clients? employees
by a specific provider of technology or services.
My main interest is the aviation industry which means that I would
like examples of the fees comparison between a class of a day or two
of a traditional workshop (i.e. for maintenance on a specific motor)
and an eLearning alternate option (the price for e-learning charged to
customers).
To take the example that you submitted in your clarification request,
the manufacturer of a Fire Department Truck equipped with a platform
might offer training on how to operate the equipment: when this
manufacturer is offering eLearning modules (may be with simulators?)
how much does he charges? What are the fees for Customer training in
that case? I?m not interested in custom developed eLearning contents,
since I already know that?
Now, my focus of interest is the aviation industry, for training
(related to equipment, motors, etc,) provided by manufacturers. My
objective is to establish a comparison between traditional classes and
eLearning deliveries.
I hope that this clarification would help the person that will
research this theme since it?s quite specific.

Hi,
Okay, well I was thinking that he could tell you both, what they paid
before and what they are paying now, since they have hundreds of
training courses for the firemen and rescue teams every year, on
operating equipment, handling different fuels, rescue equipment
procedures, truck maintenance etc. But since you need it specifically
for the aviation field, I won't bother him, and I don't have any
contacts in that area which use the training you specify.
Good luck,

Thank you for your message and your evaluation of the answer to provide Webadept.
I will need more than one example and Customer Training is very much
associated to a specific offering of manufacturers towards their
clients (and more specifically their cleints' employees using their
motors, equipement, planes, Digital equipments, etc...)
5-10 specific examples as I previously described is what I'm looking for...
For anybody that will look at this question, please note that I will
be out of touch for the next 24 hours.
Thank you for your interest.

I just received another demand for clarification but it was blank.
If you want additional clarification please specify what is needed as
additional clarification.
Also, please note that I didn't have any positive answer since the
posting on december 12th, apart from the clarification efforts from
Webadept. As a result of my own efforts to solve this issue; I'm
almost done with my research and I recommend to not trying to answer
this question unless you have the proper type of information to
provide.
Thank you for your interest anyway.
