Hi again,
Getting website up and ready is a long process, more than this it's an
on going process, so I understand the hint of frustration in your
question.
I take it you are going to focus on this website. Good choice of the
ones you have to work with, and an easy one to get going. I want to
note that before we get started, this isn't going to happen over
night. My typical change time from the point I make changes on my
website to the point that Google shows those changes in the index, is
about 4-6 weeks. Keep that in mind. Its faster when you have a higher
page ranking, but even so, mine has a 4 to 5 right now (depending on
the day), so yours is going to be about the same wait period or more.
Let's start with your links page. First off, change the name of the
directory it's under from linkspage to valet_parking. This will
reinforce your key words into a URL, and will help people searching on
engines to find you.
Second, write a small paragraph for each one of those links,
describing them. You have now a link to a another page which describes
the service. Really there are two things you can do here.
The first is to put those text paragraphs with the links under each of
the headings on
http://www.valetpark.net/linkspage/valet_links.html
This adds text to that page, will which will improve its PR.
The other is to add links for each of the cards, back to
http://www.valetpark.net/linkspage/valet_links.html -- return to
index
and to
http://www.valetpark.net/ -- return to home page
As they stand now, they are dead end pages, and don't add to your PR
at all. If you go to sites with a higher PR, you will notice that the
PR drops as you go down into the website levels. A rule of thumb is
to get as much text as you can on tier two, and always link back to
both tiers from level three and two. This will help your PR as well as
make it easy for web visitors to go through your site.
No one can say for sure, but I'm fairly certain that either method
will affect your PR in the same way. Adding the links on the cards and
adding a small paragraph about the Categories on page
http://www.valetpark.net/linkspage/valet_links.html will make it even
better. For example:
Automated Parking Systems.
------------------------------------
Companies who provide Pay Station
card readers, Ticket dispensers and
other Automated services.
Background Checks/DMV
--------------------------------------
Services which provided DMV records
and pre-entry screening reports.
etc...
Make sure you put a link back to your home page on this one. Some of
those cards in there are blank. Don't have a blank card, either fill
it or remove the category on the links page until you do.
Move or recreate the Add Site program to this site instead of sending
it off site. Make a link back to the home page from there, add some
text regarding your editorial policy, and describe your company a bit.
I'm going through your site and none of your tier two pages have links
back to the main page.. change this so that the robot can find its way
back out. Yes you have the Valet Button up there on the top, but a
clean link back that says in text "back to home" or "back to main"
would be a good addition.
Now, if you really want to do some damage here and get that PR up,
start writing up pages, single pages in mostly text, that describe
various automated parking systems, how they work, where some
comparisons can be found on the web for them, and rating system you
can find, make it about 5 paragraphs long and stuffed with
information. Do this for each of your headings in the links page. Add
one a day if you can, one every other day at the very least. Make this
site a source of information. Get excited about it, drink lots of
coffee or whoopass and start writing.
Why would I want an automated system rather than a couple of guys at
the gate?
What are the security issues of having this?
What do insurance companies say, how do they react, if they react at
all to a company going from a personnel system to an automated one?
Where can I find comparisons on different automated systems?
Link to these pages from each of those cards, and a link to a document
index page under each of the categories. Add a link on your main page
to something link "System Reviews" or something of that nature. Make
sure that each of the review pages link back to the main page and to
the category page, and to the subject card it came from.
Back to Subject :: Back to Category :: Back to Main
Using links on these documents, use the target=new_ inside the a href
tag. This is a matter of preference but I do this on document pages,
so when the reader clicks a new browser window opens, rather than
loosing their place on the document. Don't do this in your other
areas, except perhaps the cards.
There's no way to change a Picture to text and have it look good. so
that's out.
You are on the right track, those alt tags are a bit large, but leave
them that way for now. Once you get all the other things done I've
suggested here and you have a higher PR, which you will, then go in
and shorten them down.
Thanks,
