Did OPEC withold oil because the United States showed Israel preferential status? I believe I read this in the Washington Post late 1972-73. Is it factual? |

The book "The Prize" by Yergin does imply that OPEC was using oil pricing and with-holding of production as a political tool to have greater influence over the Middle East. I recommend reading the book - it is very long, but I think the best description of the history of oil through modern days. |
