In the 1950's a series of magazine ads for some sort of OTC medication
(possibly a liniment) depicted imps or gremlins inflicting pain with
saws, drills, and other tools and implements of torture. I would like
to have the name of the product and a link to one or more of the ads.

Could you be remembering the Anacin ads? There weren't any gremlins,
but there was a hammer in someone's head:

Many thanks, PinkFreud, but that's not it. These ads had fiendish
little cartoon characters.

I currently have my Mom racking her brain trying to remember the
product name, she recalls the ads, and she thinks the ads were also
duplicated "on the tellie" LOL...
