Hi, I'm glad you threw that "... to start with" in there because it makes the question answerable. To try to tell you "The Best" would simply be impossible, because every mature site has its own needs. But if you are just starting out, and need the base line features, then I would say right now Hummingbird is probably the best place to begin. First of all they have all the basic features (MySQL, PHP, Perl, Front Page extensions, email, SSL if you get the cert, and decent reporting), second they are very inexpensive. The base package is about $10.00 per month, which allows you to host 5 domain names for that $10.00. That's $2.00 a name. I've had several of my sites on there for more than a year now. I've had one minor problem with them in that year (couldn't FTP files to the site one day), which they fixed within 2 hours of my email to them. Very responsive. Now, some real world things to keep in mind. Since the beginning of the exodus to the Internet, ISP's have come and gone. I've seen great ones here today, gone tomorrow with no real sign that anything was wrong. Several nation wide ISP companies have gone down taking all of their customers with them. That is reality. 1) Never make a website that relies on customized settings on an ISP, unless you plan on hosting that site on your own server, using your own connection to the Internet. 2) Always have your web site designed so that the changing of a couple (2) configuration files will allow you to place that website on a new server. 3) Always have a backup. Never have something on the ISP server that you do not have on your backup. 4) Be ready to move. Periodically, look into other ISP's. Know where they are, and what they charge. I really like Hummingbird, I hope they make mucho bucks and live a long life, but I've been on the net way too long not to keep those 4 concepts in mind at all times. I want to live a long life and make mucho bucks too. Hummingbird Hosting http://www.hummingbirdhosting.com/ thanks, and happy holidays webadept-ga |

Hello, Before choosing a web hosting company, there is a few considerations to be made such as price, reliability, support, turnaround time when problems arise and service uptime. There is plenty of hosting companies out there, but choosing the right one does not have to be brain surgery. Follow the following steps to optimize your search for the right hosting company. 1. Set a realistic monthly budget on how much you are willing to spend on hosting. Usually between $7.95 to $14.95 should be a realistic amount for a decent service. 2. Start searching online for web hosting, visit the top search results and narrow it down to maybe 5 companies that you think are up to the job. 3. Head on over to forums like http://www.webhostingtalk.com and do a search for user feedback on those companies. 4. Make sure that you shoose a company that does not have any contracts and a 30day monay back guarantee in writing, this will give you flexibility in moving away from the host in case you are not satisfied with their services. 5. Make sure that the hosting company has an toll free number that you can call. Call their number to make sure that it works. 6. Make sure the company accepts credit cards, most legit companies will accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express Try their services on a month to month basis to see if they keep their end of the bargain and their uptime to at least 99.8% A recommended host is http://www.hostwire.com they offer a 30day money back guarantee and a <a href=http://www.hostwire.com>Free domain name</a> with each hosting account. |

I would like to recommend aerowebhost. They are at the top of the line. The have gotten very good reviews from ReviewThisHost.com. I have one of my sites hosted with them to test them out. With the pricing and the support I would have to say they are propably in the top 5, at least for being new to web hosting. If nothing out take a look at their plans and the support they offer, just ask a question and see the response time. www.aerowebhost.com Give em a try. |

Hi, It is very difficult to locate the best hosting company, there are so many on the internet and each has different opinions by users who have enjoyed the service provided and those who haven?t. I would recommend you search for a hosting company which you feel comfortable with, you can then contact them and probe them further to see if they offer everything you want, and when you are sure, you can opt to host with them, this is usually the ideal way of locating a reliable hosting provider. Most users get upset when they are easily lured into extravagant hosting plans which offer thousands of megabytes of bandwidth and disk space when realistically speaking this is not possible, it is therefore clear that such hosts oversell, meaning they place a higher number of users per server to cover costs hoping that such users wont use all the space and bandwidth provided, when these users do the servers encounter problems, spikes, downtime etc which in turn results in a poor hosting experience and bad reviews :) don?t be fooled by hosts offering unlimited bandwidth / disk space, if its too good to be true, it generally is. Anyway, you can try out our services at http://www.netspaceonline.net and can even read our hostsearch.com reviews from some of our clients at: http://www.hostsearch.com/review/netspaceonlinenet_review.asp Best of luck with you search, Tahir Ahmed NetspaceOnline.net http://www.netspaceonline.net |
