cypress7-ga,

Having grown up only a mile or so from Coney Island, in Brooklyn, NY,
I couldn't resist a question about its sister attraction, Luna Park,
which opened on December 13, 1912.

You can read some history of the park here:

THE SCREENING OF ST KILDA
A History of St Kilda?s Cinemas

The report was written by Peter A.D Fogarty for the The St Kilda
Historical Society, P.O Box 177 Balaclava, 3183. It mentions the
opening of Luna Park:

"...In 1906 St. Kilda?s first amusement park, "Dreamland" was opened
there, built by a travelling entertainer, E.S. Salambo. The venture
ran for one season only, however. Six years later, on December 13
1912, the present structure, Luna Park, was opened, having been built
for the J.D. Williams Amusement Company..."

The reference source for the opening date is given as:

Thank you! Now my lyric to 'Luna Park Rag' is more informed and my frustration
at an end.

Thanks you very much.

From now on, whenever I listen to the radio, I'll keep my ears tuned
for the Luna Park Rag...
