http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=453345 I would like to spend 3 months in Italy. I will be taking a semester of college over the internet, and it just seems it would be more fun to do it someplace other than Washington, DC where my kids live. I am 44 years old, and my kids have challenged my to finish my college degree with 4 more courses to go after dropping out 20 years ago. They promise to graduate if I do also. This is their Christmas present. I am still wondering why I dropped out with only one semester to go. I must set a good example for my kids. I will fly back to the US and graduate in May. I spent 2 months on a sailboat in Central America last winter, so I am prepared to adjust to reasonable sacrifices. What is the most inexpensive way to do this? Am I nuts for doing this? Should I go over there and get a hotel room for a week and hunt down an apartment? What I don?t need. a pool a view Room service Must haves: 300-600 square feet. Enough room for a bed, a desk and someplace to sit. A small kitchen with a sink, stove, range, refrigerator. Hot/cold toilet/bath/shower, can be shared. Showering everyday. Internet access. Must be close (walking/biking distance) to a relatively major train station. The place can be relatively crummy. I just need to cook, eat, sleep and study. A TV set would be nice. Or I could bring/buy a small one. It would be nice to have: More square feet. Basic kitchen utensils. As close to Rome as possible. Some furniture. High speed internet access. Private bath. Microwave. Access to a motorbike/car from time to time. Or maybe I will buy a motor bike? Non-crummy accomodations. lol American satellite TV (is this possible?) Do you have any suggestions for me? Any help would be greatly appreciated. | |

IF Steph goes along, she may upset your study program, and she is also addicted to G-A, but may withdrawal symptoms will be less in a new environment ... ;-) Here are a couple of sites that may help you: http://italy.accommodationforstudents.com/ http://www.studentsville.it/student_rooms_roma.htm http://www.studentaccommodation.org/links.asp?cat=student%20acommodation%20Italy http://www.study-in-italy.it/college/nicola-mazza.html http://www.study-in-italy.it/living/housing.html And you will find many more sites with the search: italy student accomodations OR rooms including sponsored sites on the sidebar. I would take a hotel room and find a room then, but you can probably get some overview of the situation from the above or other sites. Don't take your TV, different system there. Good luck, Myoarin |
