Can u help. I have a project to extract the U.S. Congress's XML data
feed of its biographical members into a database. I'm a newbie on XML
and having found the XML specifications etc ... I don't understand it
in it's entirety.

ONCE I can get the XML URL .. I know I can parse the XML into the
relevent data pieces. My problem is I cannot find the url for the bio
guide. Is it something like http://xml.house.gov/bioguide.xml !? I've
tried all sorts of angles.

Thanks! So again - I 'just' need the URL for the bio guide. I
understand the XML data sets returned and I feel comfortable parseing
them. I just don't know the blessed URL!

Or would you be looking for this?

Legislative Documents in XML at the United States House of Representatives
http://xml.house.gov/

No. I gave u the URL for those two links already.
Those links are simply to docs that describe the XML url.

I need the ACTUAL URL to the XML datafeed that provides the ACTUAL
DATA for the bioguide. Not the description doc. Not the schema doc.
The ACTUAL URL for the XML data.

Make sense?
Richard

Richard,

I'm no XML guru, but in looking around I cam across a site that might
be of use to you or to another researcher looking into your question:

http://pythia.progressivenation.net/modules/tinycontent3/index.php?id=1

From what I can tell, it contains the full bioguide (for all US
history!), and allows access to all or part of the guide as an XML
feed.

Unfortunately, the menu options were a bit too obscure for me to make
it work, but you might have more luck with it.

Let us know if it's helpful or not.

Thanks,

pafalafa-ga

Thanks but ... yup. I'm just trying to understand the xml.house.gov
web page ... to deduce the URL for the bioguide xml feed. That's all
i need and i'm willing to give someone $50 to get it. Any ideas!?

No. Alas ... this DESCRIBES the XML file I need (the fields) but does
not provide it.
