I am about to launch a new consumer electronics product in the U.S.
Currently, I am in the process of gaining an exclusive distributor
agreement with the Asian manufacturer. My intention is to launch the
product on the internet, and to try and get it distributed through
traditional consumer electronics distributors/wholesalers.
What I need to know is the following:
1) A list of manufacturer representative groups that cater to pitching
new consumer electronic products. The rep. groups should handle both
regional and national accounts.
2) What the typical margins that a distributor and wholesaler work on?
I?m trying to calculate what the SRP on the product should be, but I?m
uncertain as to what the industry average margins are for CE products.
3) Any trade groups, and/or associations for CE
distributor/wholesalers that I could join.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated. This is the first time that
I?ve tried to launch a product and as such there is a great deal of
learning that needs to be done in order to understand the process.
