I am trying to find the title and author and exact wording of a children's poem that goes something like this: It rained on Dan, it rained on Ann and it rained on Arabella. It did not rain on MaryJane, she had a huge umbrella. |

It Rained It rained on Bill, It rained on Will, It rained on Isabella, But it didn't rain on ________, He/She had a huge umbrella. It rains on the duck, cow, and horse. It rains on the trees and leaves, of course! It rains on a little girl and fella. But I'm not wet. I have an umbrella! One spring day the big round sun Winked at a cloud just for fun. That dark gray cloud thundered and cried, Scattering raindrops on all outside. But when the sun peeked out from a sunset low Together they both made a gay rainbow! Sorry...to clarify... This seems to be one of those 'rhymes' that has a hundred different variations with no or little attribution. I have not tried to track down the original 17th century person who may have come up with this...just provided the most complete lyrics I found. |

A version closer to the one in the question appears under the title "No Drops of Rain" in a collection of spring poems offered as a resource for teachers. No author is identified. http://www.icteachers.co.uk/resources/literacy/spring_poems.rtf |
