Everytime someone finances a car or construction equipment there is a
UCC filing. My question is can anyone run queries for UCC filings for
a specific area over a specific time, or is that priveleged
information? For example, I want to look up how many skid steer
loaders (all makes and models) were sold in 2004 and 2005 in a
particular area of the country. I want to know who bought them, the
name brand and model, etc. I can do this through my work, but can
anyone do this and if so, how or where??

So, to summarize. 1. Can anyone have access to UCC filings?
2. Where would someone go to do these searches?\

From this I can determine the market share for each distributor and brand.

Hi Joe,

Yes, UCC filings are public records and can be relatively easily
accessed, depending upon the state you search in. The general rule is
that UCC's are filed with the secretary of state. In fact, you could
Google "XYZ Secretary of State" and UCC and you'll probably hit pay
dirt.

Some states are very advanced with full search capability over the
internet and without charge. Other states, not so much. What states
are you interested in?

Found it, I typed California Sec of State and UCC. It worked. Good
info. I would have never known they were filed through the Sec of
State. Thanks again.
