If one assumes an attack on Iraq will happen some
time in the next year, when will it be?  

A friend said U.S. planners will take into account things like
Ramadan, heat (worried about our troops in their rubberized 
protective suits), deployment of materiel to forward
bases, etc.

Reason I am asking:  I am worried about (1) my active
duty military friends, and (2) my investments in the stock market.

Only mass media sources, please!  Don't tell me anything 
I'll have to explain to the FBI. ;-)

off beat... similar question was on my mind in the first part of the
1980's 'who will press the red button' first, and blow up half the
world with a trigger happy finger (whole world, in automatic
retaliation from the other super power).
I'd say pull out your investments now (as I'm sure they take some time
to liquify) and if it's enough to pay for a bomb raid shelter with all
mod cons for you and your friends, start building it now (preferably
in some remote location (Alaska?) and you should be safe ;-)
If anyone knew it would take away the element of surprise, I don't
think (if they did attack) they would issue a press release to
announce their arrival or declare to Iraq customs any taxable goods
like the odd warhead or anti tank missiles :-)

Thank you for your comment.  I was in Operations Desert Shield/Desert
Storm/Provide Comfort myself;  we knew then that Saddam had the
capability to gas us.  Saddam withheld because of a personal cable
from President Bush (Senior) that any NBC attack would be met with
U.S. tactical nukes. This info is all in the public domain now.

I don't think Saddam will be so accomodating this time.  But I am an
amateur in this---hoping an expert can set me straight.  Thanks again
