"I am trying to get some help with finding an Excel function. I am not
sure a function exists to do what I want, but here is my question.
I want to create a model that is capable of moving or shifting entire
sequences of numbers. For example, I have a sequence of 10 numbers
ranging from Column A to Column J. I need to create a model that is
able to shift these numbers (while remaining in assigned sequence) to
another location on my workbook.
I am not talking about simply copying and pasting the sequence. I will
create a cell which will act as my independent variable. So for
example, I would tell the cell acting as the independent variable to
shift the sequence to another worksheet filling in from column G to
Column P.
Thanks. Sam

Hi, Sam, thanks for your question.
But I'm not sure what you're asking, exactly.

Tell me if this solution works for you:

In Sheet1:

x A B C D E F G H I J
=+===================
1|1 2 3 4 5 8 2 3 5 7

Then (for instance) the equation in Sheet2:
=Sheet1!H1
will give the value 3, and
=Sheet1!J1
will give the value 7.
These values are linked back to the originals in Sheet1 and will
change when they do.

Another way to do this within the same workbook is:
N7=23
N8=$N$7

Now N8 is linked to N7.

I have posted a simple example with this idea for you to look at:

If you want the values to be independent of the original cells, i.e. a
one time equivalency, then I don't think this option exists as a
function.

Hope this helps.

Sure, it exists, I've done it many times, although it's been a few years.
