As you know, I am evaluating various ISP's here in the UK but (to my
surprise) they don't all provide email options. Those that don't argue
that there are so many good FREE 'uns around why bother? This may be
true but I would be obliged if you would now don your deerstalker, get
out your magnifying glass and twiddle on your fiddle. Of course, if
you play a melody on a G-string I shall not be surprised but I would
like to be convinced. Incidentally, the email option(s) you recommend
do not necessarily have to be free provided you can round up all the
usual suspects for further questioning. There's no rush but I would
appreciate an answer before the New Year (2006 that is). In the
meantime, A VERY MERRY FESTIVE!

Dear probonopublico-ga,

Season?s greetings to you to. Thank you for asking me on this one.
However, I'm going to disappoint you as I?m not sure that I would be
the best one to evaluate the various email providers out there. The
reason is simply that I don?t understand the complexities of IMAP/Web
access and SMTP sufficiently to advise you. For instance I use
http://www.fastmail.fm/
But I cannot give an opinion on its standing and reliability.

I can recommend another UK researcher who I am sure would be able to
provide a good answers they seem to specialise in computers, internet
and web design. If you agree I can post their name here and I am sure
he will find the reference to their name and your question.

If you want a reliable, but not feature-laden, mail and Usenet service
you could consider Clara Mail and News.
http://www.uk.clara.net/btbroadband/

It's SMTP/POP3 (no IMAP) and the webmail client is fairly basic, but
at £10 a year it's good value IMHO. Clara's news service also has a
fairly good reputation.

Many thanks, Owain, for recommending Clara but I have reason to wonder
'Is she really male?' A colour photo of the good lady would be
appreciated as a Comment Clarification. Bryan

Hi Steph

Are you the same Steph who used to live in Canada many ages ago?

If so, you must be quite a big girl now, and maybe even going to school.

I hope Santa brings you a big bagful of goodies.

All the Best

Bryan
