Please could you quote for a accurate report on "the legal
boundaries" for accepting "incapacity benefit".The reason I ask, is
that, if I were to receive a regular income from external activities
,that do not require obvious work for example gambling.
                                          Would I be contravening my
"benefit status".By income ,I mean £250 to £350 a month tax free.What

It's just a "Comment" --you're not charged until a Researcher posts in
the Answer box. It will open up between the light purple Answer and
Comment bars.

It seems that there is also the question whether gambling is ?work?.
For most people it is not, for a few it is a way of living.
Interestingly, this site indicates that income from gambling is NOT
taxable :)
http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/n6w/index/life/tax/tax-exempt_and_taxable_income.htm
(scroll down to fourth from last item under ?other income which is exempt?)

Of course, this is not the last word from Inland Revenue on tax, but
if gambling income is not taxed, it would seem that that you would not
be ?working? within the terms of the site Cynthia posted (and there
would be no control between government departments).
