Hello all. Recently I met someone who was working at a bookstore. This
person and I had a wonderful conversation and a connection of sorts,
but the place was busy and I had to shuffle out so as not to hold up
the line. I went back a couple of weeks later to see if this person
was working, but was told they don't work there at all anymore. There
was a definite attraction for me, and I wish I had a chance to see if
they were feeling it too.

My question is this... is there some way to find a person with only their
first name and their last place of employment? If I call the bookstore
and try to get a phone number, I think I'll get shut down pretty
quickly, as nobody gives that type of information out. I'm still going
to try it, but in the meantime... Do any of you have suggestions about
how to find this person? I wouldn't be opposed to going through People
Search or some service like that. Are previous workplace and first
name enough to go on? (The first name is pretty unique).
Thanks for reading. If it makes a difference, I don't plan to be at
all intrusive with this information. I just figure it's worth a shot
to try and talk with this person one more time, and see if it goes anywhere.
I'm pretty sure the person was one in a million. :) Thanks a lot.
Steve

Have you tried going back to the book store, telling them your tale,
and asking them to pass along your contact information to their
ex-employee?

If the person you're interested in felt likewise, I'm sure you'll hear
from them before long.

Let us know if that's an option.

I doubt that online people-finding services would be of any use in a
situation like this one. A local private investigator might be able to
help, but it's difficult to use such services without appearing to be
a stalker. Someone tracked me down once by using a professional
service, and it really creeped me out.

Have you visited other local stores? Possibly this person is working
at another bookstore.

Hmm. You have a good point about the creepy thing. And there's another
branch of this bookstore in town, so I'll give them a ring. Thanks for
that idea. :)

That's also a good idea, pafalafa. I'll give it a shot and let you
know. Thanks for responding.

You might start Pafalafa's approach by buying another book at the
store and then when paying off-handedly just asking where the girl
went. Maybe you will get an answer, if not, then you can use Paf's
line. (Pick a "good" book ...)

What gives you that idea?

You could pretend to be a prospective employer and pretend to be
calling for a reference. Just use the first name and see if the
person you speak with will say the last name, or tell them that you
are having difficulty reading the handwriting on the application and
ask if they have a spelling on the name...that might be even more
creepy though. Possibly illegal, but it could work.

Yes that is it use clevegal42-ga idea.
Call and say this is _______ of course use another name besides your own.
And say I am calling to verify employment on "first name". and they
may say Oh ___ ___ and they will blurt out last names. Be ready to
right down the last names if the first names are popular. Then if
they is more than one you can pick one and follow throught with some
general questions as to how long they worked there? Is the person
rehirable? Ok thank you for your time.
GOOD LUCK.
Then you can get a lawyer to look the names up and see if he has a
criminal background, they have pictures. Then if not then unless you
have someone that works in the police department and can run a trace
you may be out of luck.
Sorry..

Sounds like a Craig's List "Missed Connection" to me...
