Calling all frontpage 2003 and database experts . . . . I'm an ambitious newbie who'd like to create a blog. No, not just any blog but a fully customized blog. So, I got my own domain name and decided to use Wordpress as my blogging software. I have experience with FP 2000 but I'm new to the 03 version. So, I'm trying to add my database in FP 03 but I'm lost. MS Help says something about a task pane and opening up the data source catalog. I can find neither option. (Boy do I feel dumb right now). I was trying to add the database via site settings but I can't. I understand MySQL is opensource and made for Linux so MS isn't going to make it easy for users who choose to use MySQL, but if I could just find the stupid data source catalog. Do I make any sense at all here? Then,I'm thinking my next step should be the following: in the "ODBC Data Source Administrator", the utility in Windows that display's what ODBC drivers are installed, there is a tab to define a "System DSN" connection. Click "Add" Select the MySQL ODBC Driver Click "Finish" Name the connection in the "Data Source Name" Then fill out the server, user, password, and database fields for the MySQL database. Click "Test" to verify Click "OK" Can anyone tell me if I'm on the right track? Thanks. |

Put your forms in FP and post your form results to a php script. The php programming is pretty easy and works very well with MySQL. You can use something like phpFormGenerator (free) to do the initial form and MySQL programming and then just incorporate the form into you FP html. http://sourceforge.net/projects/phpformgen/ http://www.thetntsite.com/ |

Cool Thanks! That's very helpful. And I did manage to connect FP to MySQL driver in the Site Settings. |
