Our company is about to hire our first sales people. We'd done well
without a sales force but we'll do better with one. Our products are
market research tools for use by corporations, market research firms
and ad agencies. I feel we need something attractive to an
experienced sales person, maybe 5 or 10 years of experience in the
field. What should the salary be for this person, and how should it
be structured? We're thinking $50K base,$10 for expenses, 1.5% of
existing clients they're assigned, 5% of new clients they bring in,
for two years, then dropping to 2.5% as long as they stay with us.
Quota of $200,000/quarter. They can live anywhere in the States and
will work from home. Our company has 1.6M in sales, a 75% gain over
last year, and is 4 years old and profitable.
