Do CRT HDTV's perform better with analog signal than LCD's?
I have gone to a store recently and noticed that most CRT HDTV's had a
better picture when displaying regular non-hd TV than LCD sets. Was that just my
perception or is that really so? If it is, why?

We used to have a CRT HDTV. While its picture was quite brilliant and
sharp, the TV scan lines were much more apparent than with an LCD
television. I don't know whether this is true of all CRT HDTV sets.

Thanks! That's a new point to me. Were the lines true for HD broadcast
or for regular analog TV?

At the time when we had the CRT HD set, we did not yet have an HD
tuner. We used the set to display computer images (which looked
stunning), and for watching standard analog cable television
programming and DVDs (which looked very good, but with obvious scan
lines). Our TV became irreparably ill and died before HD came to our
local cable company. I suspect that, if we had watched HD programming
on it, the scan lines would probably have been more noticeable on this
glass CRT television than on a rear-projection set or a flatscreen LCD
or plasma set. At least that's what I've been told by audio-video
buffs who seem to know.
