Hello
I am looking to purchase health insurance for small company , with my
employees can be anywhere in the US...like one employee may be in
California another in NY ,anmother in texas.. It seems there are so
many options like HMP.PPO..some inclusions , Managed plan etc..
My company is located in NY..I am looking to get better idea for
following two aspects:

1) Hoe can I get very good rate for health Insurance e.g. if I become
member of some organization of small business, select HMO,PPO..or
other ways , etc..or some other ways
2) I need a pointer , through which I can get fair comparative idea
for the health insurance cost in various state. ( this will help me to
think about relocation)
Thanks

Hi 4723, there are several things that you can do. The fact that your
employees work in other states doesn't really matter, but the network
of the provider you choose will need to be accessible by your
employees who live in other states. The actual plan will be purchased
in the state in which your business resides permanently. I would
begin by contacting a health insurance broker that sells insurance in
your state. They can offer quotes from several companies that are
available in your state. You can check them out by going to your
state insurance commissioner's web site. Since you don't have a
relationship with a broker you might consider interviewing several to
see who you are most comfortable with. They will all be able to give
you a best rates quote based on a census of your employees for the
companies they represent. This will give you a starting point. You
might also contact your local chamber of commerce to find out who they
recommend and who other business owners in your area are using. This
will help you find an association as well. Hope that helps.
