I need to know how the paper-letter writing (not email) habits of
Americans have changed over the course of the 20th century, up until
present day.  What would be ideal would be a graph or some statistics
showing perhaps the average number of PERSONAL letters sent by
individuals (per year, maybe) to other individuals.  Also need the source cited.

Well, not entirely.  although it may be useful if you could get those
figures from 1984 to present day.  Or perhaps a decade earlier until
1994.  Also, what kind of writing habits would these figure describe? 
The key answer I'm looking for is for personal writing habits of
Americans over the last thirty years.
