I am selling travel online using the visa gift card. There is no problem when the amount deposited to the card exceeds the amount of purchase. But when the customer wants to buy something online that is more than the amount they have been given on the card, the transaction stops. The online processors I have contacted are presently not offering split transactions online. I am looking for one that does. The profit potential is tremendous, and it is possible with existing technology. I am amazed that it is this hard to find a company not already offering this basic service. If it is not already available, I would like to speak with a credit card processor or bank that would be willing to develop it. This is a good listing of information on the gift card market: http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=442742 Also, I use the type of card that is funded by one party, sent to another, is a real visa card, and is useable anywhere visa is accepted... not the type that I pre-fund myself. |

Hi Bork, What you may want to consider doing, in the meantime is, when the customer gets to the total screen, and the total is more than the amount on the card - have them click on a link that opens a new window. On that new window, either let them add funds to the card online, or have them call a phone number to add the funds. Then, they can finish the transaction. That will get you by in the meantime. Best wishes Your TaxMama-ga |
