Hello Viergutz,

I located some interesting statistics showing full-time employment
status of bachelor's degree recipients 1 year after graduation, by
field of study from 1976 to 2001.

Employment status is divided in the following categories:

- Percent employed full-time in a job

- Percent employed full-time closely related to field of study

- Percent employed full-time in nonprofessional jobs

This data is also available as a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet format.

Please let me know via the ?Clarification? feature if this data would
serve your purpose?

Thanks,

Bobbie7

Maybe what I need will need to be split into two questions:

1) What percent of the time does a student sign a letter of intent to
attend a college go on to graduate from that school?

2) Then upon obtaining their B.S. degree what percent of the time do
they actually get a job in their chosen field (the research you
found)?

Then I could combine these together.

Dear Viergutz,

Thank you for your clarification.

If you want, you can cancel this question and post the 2 new separate questions.

I would answer the second question as I already have this data available.
If this is fine with you, please put my name in the subject line of
the second question so I can post my findings.

Thanks,
Bobbie7

How would you define "a job in their field of study" for graduates of
humanities and social sciences?

Great question. That gets a little difficult. How about a job similar
to their peers with the same major or field of study. I just don't
want to count someone who gets a degree in chemistry and flips burgers
after graduation. It may be easier to just find all of the people who
get jobs shortly (6 months) after graduation in any sector.
