I cannot speak directly to acceptance at Georgia Tech. However, as a
Professor of Organic Chemistry, I will comment.
Taking online courses with an associated laboratory is difficult. If
you find the course, it is generally without the laboratory.
The only course you will probably find is the Calculus course, however
since it is a level II course this may pose problem.
Most state college systems have a list of courses both attendance and
online that can be transfer to any school within that state school
with full credit. Contact the registrar of Georgia Tech for more
information.
Courses from non-approved institution will often require that you
provide the detailed course outlines and even then you may only
receive partial credit.
My recommendation is that you take elective or prerequisite courses
during this time period.
As to getting into another school for one semester, contact or visit
the director of admissions at a local community college or any
college. Be up front, you are seeking special admission as student not
seeking a degree and if you are on academic probation, tell them. Take
your transcripts with you and a list of courses you wish to take.
They will admit you because you are easy money requiring no dorm space
and there is always one more extra chair in most classrooms.
Be sure to contact the Registrar at Georgia Tech and see if the
courses are transferable with full credit.
I spent 4 years on the Credit Transfer Committee and I never saw
anyone try to transfer any hard science courses except math.
