Question ID: 609292
I'm a Georgia Tech student, and I've been forced to take a semester
off from attendence. I would like to know what online courses would be
accepted as transfer credits at Georgia Tech, specifically for the
following classes:

# MATH 1502 Calculus II
# PHYS 2212/2502 Intro Physics II
# CHEM 1311 Inorganic Chemistry I
# CHEM 1312 Inorganic Chemistry Lab
# CHEM 2311 Organic Chem I
# CHEM 2312 Organic Chem II
# CHEM 2380 Synthesis Lab
# BIOL 1510/1511 Biological Principles
# BIOL 1520/1521 Intro to Organismal Biology

Any online courses that would credit for the above classes would be excellent.
A transfer equivalancies table can be found here:

Are there any online programs that I can attend for the Spring 2006
semester that would allow credit for the above courses?

Just to clarify, I would need a place that could accept me for Spring
2006, on late notice. Most colleges close their application period in
late Nov. / early Dec. Are there any places that would still accept as
of late Dec?

There is no answer at this time.

I cannot speak directly to acceptance at Georgia Tech. However, as a
Professor of Organic Chemistry, I will comment.

Taking online courses with an associated laboratory is difficult. If
you find the course, it is generally without the laboratory.

The only course you will probably find is the Calculus course, however
since it is a level II course this may pose problem.

Most state college systems have a list of courses both attendance and
online that can be transfer to any school within that state school
with full credit. Contact the registrar of Georgia Tech for more
information.

Courses from non-approved institution will often require that you
provide the detailed course outlines and even then you may only
receive partial credit.

My recommendation is that you take elective or prerequisite courses
during this time period.

As to getting into another school for one semester, contact or visit
the director of admissions at a local community college or any
college. Be up front, you are seeking special admission as student not
seeking a degree and if you are on academic probation, tell them. Take
your transcripts with you and a list of courses you wish to take.
They will admit you because you are easy money requiring no dorm space
and there is always one more extra chair in most classrooms.

Be sure to contact the Registrar at Georgia Tech and see if the
courses are transferable with full credit.

I spent 4 years on the Credit Transfer Committee and I never saw
anyone try to transfer any hard science courses except math.

Good Luck, Waylander1948
