I'm trying to find out about a toy I owned once. I purchased it at a
flea market and it ended up stolen. The person who sold it to me knew
nothing about it. I've not seen one like it before or since. I'll try
to describe it: the sides, top , bottom and back were made of a
natural wood. the front was glass. dimmensions 6"wide x 10" high x
3-4" deep. behind the glass was a decorated solid panel (circus type
decor) I beleive there was sand behind the panel becasue when it was
flipped over the trapeze artist or acrobat would flip down slowly and
irractically...(in the most pleasant way)

Hello,

Though the animation on this site is not working right now here is a
link to a store selling kits to make what you are looking for...
http://www.fryerskits.demon.co.uk/

You can join a discussion of others about this toy here:
http://flying-pig.co.uk/fpbb/viewtopic.php?t=103&

Here is another selection...these are generally made from card
stock..your sounds like is was encased to make it more durable.
http://www.walterruffler.de/Galerie/sand2.html

These type of toys are refered to as automata (which also include wind
up toys) when you are searching...specifically sand or sand toy
automata.

I hope you find this information useful.
