Hi there! Well, the days of online grocery shopping in Atlanta seem to be over for now, after the dotcom fallout. However, I'm happy to report there is still hope for those Atlantians wishing to have grocery items delivered to their homes. The following companies offer delivery of non-perishable grocery items anywhere in the country. Items purchased are sent through FedEx or a similar service (at a very discounted rate for some cases). I have listed them in order of quality (according to my own opinion, which takes into consideration ease of use and general professionalism): http://www.netgrocer.com http://www.mypcgrocer.com/ http://www.bringthegroceries.com http://www.mypcgrocer.com I have had very positive experiences working with Netgrocer (the first link) myself. But again, keep in mind anything you order through these services needs to be non-perishable. Finding a service in Atlanta willing to delivery non-perishables AND perishables is a little more difficult. Because the dotcoms have gone bust or pulled out of non-profitable cities, for now you'll need to be creative until one of the larger services returns to town. I suggest scanning through the yellow pages for "delivery services" -- sometimes small businesses offer this service together with cleaning services, video rental service, and the like. If this question is in regard to an elderly person's needs, there are likely a number of philanthropic organizations in Atlanta which will provide this kind of service. I believe the United Way might be one. I hope this helps. If you are wanting perishables and still can not locate a delivery service after using my suggestions, please ask for a refund for this answer. Best of luck to you! A large array of frozen desserts, entrees, snacks, and juices are available from Schwan's. http://www.schwans.com/ You can order online, and home delivery is available at no extra charge. The foods are not cheap, but they are of excellent quality. I have used Schwan's for many years, and have never had a bad experience with them. |

If this is for a senior, many supermarkets offer free shopping and delivery for seniors, either through staff, volunteers, or both. At least, here in Canada, Safeway, Save-On, and Thrifty all do. |

Never discount the human kindness factor... A friend in Las Vegas had an emergency. My wife phoned from Chile (where we live) to a Raley's in Las Vegas. The manager, to whom we had never spoken previously, took a rather sizeable order over the phone, billed our Chilean credit card, and delivered the stuff to the door of our friend at no extra charge, just out of the kindness of his heart. Even if something is not normally "offered as a service" there are many decent people who will go out of their way if this is happens to be a limited-mobility situation. |
