I read that L-lysine should be taken on an empty stomach to enable it
to be absorbed by the brain. If I'm taking Lysine as a herpes simplex
preventative and a collagen support nutrient, why would it be
necessary to be absorbed by the brain? There is no connective tissue
in the brain, and herpes simplex does not occur in the brain. So, I'm
wondering if Lysine will still have the complete desired effect on
herpes and collagen if it is taken with food?

I'm also wondering about Proline? If I'm taking it for it's effects
on blood vessels, is it necessary to take it on an empty stomach?

Hoping *very much* you will be able to answer these questions. If
not, could you direct me to someone who can.

Taking proline on an empty stomach as with most medicines is to make
sure it is fully absorbed by the gut. As taking food with this
medication may affect absorption into your gut.
