How can I stop that annoying "dripping" sound that's coming out of my computer every time I browse the net? I have already turned off the sound associated with my pop-up blocker, yet the sound persists. My dad thinks it is a sound associated with cookies. But I know there is some way to disable it, because my computer at home does not make this annoying sound. | |

I don't know if this is the same thing at all, but one of my office colleagues has a periodic dripping sound on his computer, too, which is truly annoying. He says it's some kind of automatic news /weather feed or something that he once subscribed to. Have you looked at the bottom of your computer screen on the right, where all the little icons are to see if there's anything there that's not something you want or need? I'm not techie at all, but when I saw the words "dripping sound," that's the first thing I thought of. |

Here is a very easy answer to your question... The source of the sound is "cookiecrunch.wav" which should be located in your PestPatrol directory... Most likely: c:/program files/pest patrol/cookiecrunch.wav Simply delete that wav and the annoying sound will no longer be heard. You can also disable pest patrol to get rid of the cookie crunching wav sound being played. ==== Solution found by searching google... ://www.google.com/search?q=firefox%20dripping%20noise which lead to... http://66.102.7.104/search?q=cache:Odma505xBy8J:www.freewebspace.net/forums/archive/index.php/f-29-p-7.html+firefox+dripping+noise&hl=en Let me know if this worked for you -Mike |

Denco -- thanks very much for taking the time to reply... I was going to try what you suggested -- it may indeed have worked -- but I went ahead and tried Tuka's suggestion first, and it worked perfectly! Thanks for your input! Cryptica -- that's a good thought but I don't have any such program loaded and there's nothing at the lower right on my task bar... thanks though :-). Tuka -- your solution worked like a charm :-)! It took me all of 30 seconds to find and delete that file and waalaaahh - that chinese water torture-like dripping noise is gone! Please post it as the official answer and I'd be happy to relinquish payment... thanks! |
