Dear porche,

The painting you are referring to is, provided it is not falsified,
without any doubt a work by Thomas Moran (1837-1926), a famous
English-American landscape painter. In this case, it would be very
valuable. However, I have not been able to find out in detail about
this special painting's history. Moran was very productive, and
without knowledge about the picture's title it's nearly impossible to
find out more; especially if the painting had been private property.
Is there anything else about Moran's life and work you'd like to know?

I am sorry I can't tell you more at the momentt.
Regards,
Scriptor

Dear Scriptor-ga,

In order to document the painting as a Thomas Moran watercolor, I need
to have knowledge of its history and or provenance prior to 1950.
Nothing less will help at this time. Thank you-porche-ga

Hi, Porche!

It would be very helpful to any researcher looking into this if you
knew the title of the piece. Also, if you explained to us how and
where you acquired the painting, that would be a useful starting point
in researching its provenance.

Dear Cromedome,

Unfortunately, I don't know the title of the painting. I acquired it
from a collector in NC who did not have a provenance other than where
he purchased it. He bought it from a Mr. John Lengel from Fairfield,
Ct. in the 1970's. Mr. Lengel has been deceased for quite a while and
his family cannot offer any other information on the work. I wish I
could give you more information and I appreciate your interest.
Sincerely, Porche
