Hello, I would like to find a florist, decorator, or tent company that can set-up the ceiling effect of the cloth drapes in this picture link: http://www.stamfordtent.com/portfolio.html (Please click on picture of Private Wedding in Riverdale, NY) The company that the picture is from (Stamfordtents) does not provide this service unless you rent the whole tent out which is very expensive. I would like to have this same affect in a restaurant we plan on using for an event.I would like the phone number and contact name(If possible) to 2 to 3 companies that can provide this ceiling affect in the Norwalk / Stamford, Connecticut Area. Thank you for your time and plese let me know if you have any other questions!!! Thanks Mike | |

HI Mike, To provide you with the names of two or three outfits that could do this for you would require searching the yellow pages for interior decorators, and then contacting them to find out if they are interested, maybe a tedious task, since the people would immediately want to know when and where, etc. It seems that you could do this better yourself - and you would have to do about the same if someone else just found some names that seemed interested in the project. Does the restaurant go along with the idea? I am wondering if the ceiling in the center of the room is high enough to have the gathered drapery look nice, i.e., hang gracefully to the walls without hanging too low over peoples' heads. I expect that you understand that this is a good deal more work than the broad bands used in the larger picture that you linked. The cloth has to be gathered at the edges of the room - at least 50% more material width than the wall lengths, and then the swaths of cloth have to taper to the center while managing to create the pleats, always allowing for the draped effect. It is not the kind of job a decorator would probably have much (any?) experience with and sounds like it would be quite expensive for a single event, if one put his reputation to risk to try it. In effect, you would be buying something that would be a rather expensive interior decorating project for permanent used (and then paying to have it removed and any minor repairs taken care of. Oh, and removing use of the restaurant's room for a couple of days). Sorry to be discouraging. If this is a bride's idea, I can understand your predicament (had a wedding in the family last year :). If you decide the project won't fly, it might be most discrete to let the blame fall on the restaurant by whispering to the manager that he say it is impossible. Good luck, nonetheless. Regards, Myoarin |
