Hello.

The St. Petersburg-Tampa Airboat Line is cited as the world's first
airline.  It began service on January 1, 1914.

If you are asking about transporting people and a regular schedule
then the above answer is correct...also, are you saying airPLANE or
only airLINE (ie..balloons can count?)...anyway...Encarta has a nice
