The St. Petersburg-Tampa Airboat Line is cited as the world's first
airline. It began service on January 1, 1914.

"St. Petersburg-Tampa Airboat Line: The World?s First Airline, Part 1"
"World's First Winged Airline"

search strategy:
"world's first airline"
"world's first airline" tampa

I hope this helps.

If you are asking about transporting people and a regular schedule
then the above answer is correct...also, are you saying airPLANE or
only airLINE (ie..balloons can count?)...anyway...Encarta has a nice
article here...
