Hi gunky,

A few possibilities come to mind. It's possible that the MySQL
service isn't running at all. With your "dos" command line open, type
this and hit enter:

net start mysql

This should give you some information. It will either tell you that
the service is not recognised/installed, give an error why it can't
start, or hopefully it the service will just start up.

If MySQL starts, then you can be relatively sure it just isn't set to
start when windows does; you can do this by typing "services.msc" into
the "Run" dialog from the Start menu, locating MySQL in the list and
setting it to start automatically.

Another thing to note is that the MySQL server is usually accessed on
port 3306 on your PC. If you have a firewall running that might block
connections to it, try allowing them (although a good firewall should
allow local connections, but you never know).

Good Luck.
