Someone recently told me a technology service could "bypass the stack." What does "bypass the stack" mean? | |

I presume the "stack" in question is the communication protocol stack. For example, a TCP/IP connection is usually thought of in terms of a number of layers, starting with the "physical layer" of wires, radio waves, optical fiber or whatever, and moving up to higher levels of software protocol. Together these are called the protocol stack. If you search Google for: bypass protocol stack you'll find a few references to technologies that can bypass some of the layers in the stack. This is just a guess. |
