I have heard that underwater testing done by the US military is an

some of the more currently funded projects in Hawaii can be found here
: http://inouye.senate.gov/~inouye/03pr/20030710pr01.html

On the western shores of the Island of Kauai is also the Pacific
Missile Range Facility. "The mission of the Pacific Missile Range
Facility(PMRF) is to facilitate Training, Tactics Development, and
Test & Evaluations for air, surface, and sub-surface weapons systems
and Advanced Technology Systems."
http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/facility/pmrf.htm

There are also proposals not fully implemented for sonar testing
faciliites off California and Hawaii. The Navy also uses the waters
around Hawaii to test various undersea vehicles (including rescue
vehicles).

In order to pinpoint which project you might be referring to- I would
think more specific information would be required as to what Hawaiian
Island and what branch of the military.

thanks, scoval-ga

I'm really just interested in knowing what locations around the
islands have regular testing going on, or will have testing going on .
. . in order to avoid being near these locations.
