Can anyone tell me how to get an object into the objects palette in
ImageStyler without dragging the background along with it? E.g., if
the object I bring into the workspace is a .wmf car, it sets up the
red car in a rectangle with the white background. How do I get rid of
the white background to make it just a car object and put it into the
objects palette as just the car?

Hi Bill,

Have you tried doing a Google Groups search?
http://groups.google.com/groups

I just typed the following and came up with similar concerns:

Keyword:

imagestyler background
http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&q=imagestyler+background

Possibly you can find the same problem from other users?

Good luck in your search,

Trailhead

Hello Bill,

Adobe's Image Styler isn't as sophisticated as some of the other image
editors out there, however it IS possible to import a transparent
object into the Shapes palette. So the question turns into: How can I
make my object transparent first?

There are several methods which can be used to create a transparent
.gif, including using built-in capabilities of Image Styler. To use
Image Styler, save the car image as a .gif file, setting your Export
options to .gif, and checking the box on the Export window for
transparency. After you've saved the image, import the saved file back
into Image Styler, and check that the background has indeed been made
transparent by changing the background color to something other than
white.

MediaBuilder's GIFWorks offers a free, online utility for editing .gif
images, including adding transparency. You'd simply upload the image
from your hard drive to their image editor, then select "Add
Transparency" from the Edit menu.

Hope this helps,

larre-ga

Backgrounds may also be erased by hand with a pixel image editor such
as Adobe Photoshop or Ulead's PhotoImpact. Ulead's SmartSaver allows
transparentizing of images by the method of selecting the background
color(s) to become transparent using an eyedropper.

GIF Works is an online tool
