Hi lightbulb, Google allows anyone to delete their own postings from the Google Groups Usenet archive. To do this, you must identify the email address or addresses from which you made those postings. An easy way to do this is to visit Google Groups http://groups.google.com/ and search for one of your postings. Click on your name in the article header (near the top of the screen) and you will see a list of all the articles you have posted. If you posted the articles from your current email address, you may remove them using an automated process. Otherwise, you must send an email to Google including a sworn statement that you posted these messages. Detailed instructions are provided in questions 7 and 12 of the following web page: Google Groups Help ://www.google.com/googlegroups/help.html To avoid your future Usenet postings being archived by Google Groups, you may configure your newsreader to add the following header to each outgoing message: X-No-Archive: yes Alternatively, you may type the above text as the first line of your posting. Although the post removing tool at google allows one to remove individual posts , it isn't a cure all. If the message has been responded to by others it will still be posted within the thread with your name attached. So until there becomes a way to completely remove your name and e-mail from the entire thread the message you wrote will remain. |
