Hi! I'm making a video for my boyfriend's 30th birthday of all his
friends and family wishing him well. I have hours of footage and am
now starting to edit and I have a couple of questions:
(1) Why are video and audio sometimes in sync and sometimes not? It
varies from clip to clip and it has even happened where I dubbed a
clip onto my PC and it was all in sync and then I did that same clip
again and they were out of sync. Is there a way to fix this aside
from splitting the two, adjusting the timing and fusing them back
together?
(2) Is there an optimal sampling rate for video and audio, considering
that I taped in SP mode with 12 bit audio? How might the sampling
rate affect the out of sync problem described above?
(3) Why does the footage look choppy on my PC? Will it even out when
I dub back to VHS? Am I screwed as far as producing it digitally
goes?
- Additional information: the camcorder is a JVC320, I'm dubbing
through a Dazzle Digital Video Creator, the software for capturing
and editing is called MovieStar and neither my budget nor my timeline
would allow for changing any of those, except perhaps the software.
Thank you!
Cheers, Holly
P.S. By the way, I would pay more for this question but the exchange
rate is prohibitive. So many thanks to anyone who answers it anyway.

Greetings!

Several questions:

1) Does the JVC 320 camcorder have a Firewire (IEEE 1394, iLink) output on it?
2) Is the JVC 320 recording in DV format?
3) What is your PC hardware?
4) Are you willing to install a PCI card in the computer?
5) Are you willing to spend $90 for *much* better results?
6) What country are you in (I'm guessing Japan)
