My system resources are too low since changing internet carriers-
Prodigy bought by Yahoo. I have been asked to contact you and ask
which programs in msconfig I can close so my resources will be higher.

Hi meg9-ga,

Could you please provide your computer hardware specifications along
with the the other programs you are usually running when you
experience this problem? Remember that there are also programs that
may be running in the background or in your system tray that may also
be taking up resources.

Thanks,

answerguru-ga

It's difficult to know how to answer without knowing what programs are
running in the background on your PC. To find out get hold of PC
magazine's Startup Cop program (it's free, but you have to register):

http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,4149,2173,00.asp

This will tell you what programs are loading at startup, and what is
making them load. This might be enough to help you to clear yoru
resources, however, if you are unsure which are required, and which
are not, post a list here, and I would imagine that a researcher will
be able to help you.

There is no answer at this time.

In every new computer I get I always close everything except the
system tray, my antivirus program and my firewall. I have never had
any problems doing this, and it frees up a ton of resources.

My understanding is that the system tray is actually the only thing
you have to keep running.
