Hello 1happy-ga,
The simple answer is that a stroke causes damage by interrupting blood
flow to the brain, which causes the brain cells to die. Different
parts of the brain are responsible for different activities, such as
speech, movement, hearing etc. Therefore, depending on which area of
the brain is affected and also how the size of the area affected,
different symptoms may occur. "The effects of a stroke range from
mild to severe and can include paralysis, problems with thinking,
problems with speaking, and emotional problems. Patients may also
experience pain or numbness after a stroke."

If you want to explore the topic of strokes further, many links to
information about strokes are listed on the web site of the US

Hope this helps, but please request clarification if you need more
information.
I will be away until Friday evening UK time. |
