Hi thanks for visiting us.

It seems that information available are in the 90s except for the UK
which has year 2000 figures. Would you consider mid to late nineties
figures from some EU countries be a sufficient answer?

Just let me know.

Yes, easterangel, those #'s from the late 90's would still be helpful.
I suspect the EU has not had a census lately to the or is in the middle of one.
If there are "estimates" of 2000-2003, this would be helpful as well. Possibly
some academic materials suggest this later #.
Thanks.

Hi! Thanks for your very interesting question. Since I was not able to
satisfactorily answer your question, I will just post this as a
comment so as to help you and other researchers that might take the
job.

One maybe good source to partially answer this question is through
this article. In a recent report about distance education in the EU,
it mentions that there are approximately 2.5 million who use it for
vocational studies. Furthermore; the report also mentions that
distance education market in the EU could be worth 1 billion ECU.
Since the primary users of distance education are post secondary
education students then this report might have weight on your work.

UK
“There are 1.8 million full-time and part-time students in higher
education in the United
Kingdom.
About 11 percent of students studying in the United Kingdom are from
overseas; five
percent are European Union (EU) students and six percent are from
outside the European
Union.”
