Hi bish,

As an alternative to raking acorns from your lawn, you can vacuum them
up. There are a number of garden tools that will do this, ranging from
small electric hand-held blower/vacuums to gasoline-powered wheeled
lawn vacuums.

In a Detroit News article, Nancy Szerlag mentions the $450 Craftsman
4-in-1 Yard Vacuum. "About the size of a lawn mower, it vacuums and
shreds at the same time ... The 4.5 hp Tecumseh engine creates a
vacuum powerful enough to pick up debris including pinecones, acorns
and small twigs and grind them up without clogging.":

This unit is available from Sears:

Hammacher Schlemmer writes that their Best Leaf Blower & Vacuum can
"blow leaves and even sticks, acorns, and other lawn debris into
piles, easily change to a vacuum, suck up the debris and chop it into
a mulch. The collection bag catches the vacuumed and chopped debris
and can be used to disperse the mulch in desired areas.":

The above unit sells for $100 and is described here:

The Black & Decker Electric Blower/Vac/Mulch Leaf Hog BV2500 is said
to have a "mulcher blade designed to allow acorns and twigs to pass
through into the bag":

The following review at epinions cautions against getting a unit that
is too small, suggesting that something heavier-duty would be much
better for tasks such as vacuuming up acorns:

An example of a much more powerful unit is the Elgee gasoline-powered
Power Vac range, which is said to vacuum up "all types of paper and
lawn debris such as leaves; acorns; and sand.":

In addition to the gasoline-powered models, the above page lists a
wide range of electric and battery-powered lawn vacuums.
