As described on its web site ( http://www.nasact.org/ ), The National
Association of State Auditors, Comptrollers and Treasurers (NASACT) is
"an organization for state officials who deal with the financial
management of state government." Its membership is comprised of
"officials who have been elected or appointed to the office of state
auditor, state comptroller or state treasurer in the fifty states, the
District of Columbia, and U.S. territories."

(A point on terminology may be in order here. In some states, for
example California, the office of state chief financial officer is
called "Controller". In other states, such as Florida, the office is
called "Comptroller". You can check the titles in the different
states by clicking the map at:

The NASACT web site provides news, technical updates, and other
resources for state financial officials. The Technical Updates
section (at present, under the headings "GAO" and "GSB") includes
"letters of comment" by NASACT, which amount to position papers on
current issues. This section also provides legislative and regulatory
comments. Earlier letters of comment and legislative and regulatory
comments are indexed on an archive page.
